NGADA, WBN — The dreams of orphans and children who have lost one or both parents in Ngada Regency, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, to continue their education have received a welcome boost.
Through a consistent initiative driven by compassion, the Dian Flores Indonesia Foundation has once again distributed financial aid for education costs and school supplies to dozens of underprivileged children in the area.
This tangible action serves as an oasis amidst the significant challenges regarding access to education in remote regions.
On Monday (August 31, 2026), 20 students across various educational levels officially received assistance to help alleviate school costs. The recipients included 13 pupils from SDI Ubedolumolo Ngada, six students from SMA Negeri 1 Golewa, and a female university student currently studying at the Citra Bakti Ngada campus.
The foundation—initiated by Florianus Lengu, a social advocate from Langa Village, Ngada—is not a newcomer to this cause. Since its establishment in 2016, the organization has chosen to operate quietly, weaving together hopes for children at risk of dropping out of school due to their families’ financial limitations.
“We do not make grandiose promises. We simply invite everyone to join us in prayer and shared effort. May these children’s journeys always be under the protection of the Almighty, and may their paths be made smooth,” said Florianus while accompanying the children under his foundation’s care.
Cross-Border Solidarity
This effort to nurture the hopes of Ngada’s children has sparked widespread sympathy, reaching even beyond national borders. Saskia Schwarz, a master’s student from Germany currently visiting Flores, stepped in personally as a donor.
Saskia’s presence brought not only material aid but also a valuable morale boost to the children in this remote part of Flores. She engaged closely with them, offering motivation to remain optimistic about the future through diligence in their studies. “Keep attending school and studying hard for your future. These children truly deserve this assistance. I also encourage everyone with the means to spare to reach out and help one another,” said Saskia warmly.
The aid provided on this occasion is but a small part of the chain of kindness that the Dian Flores Indonesia Foundation has woven over the past decade.
Behind these figures lies a powerful humanitarian message: poverty must not hinder the young generation of Flores from achieving their dreams.
“We make no promises. Let us pray and strive together so that this initiative continues to make a positive impact as hoped,” concluded Florianus Lengu, Chairperson of the Dian Flores Foundation.
